did you see the documentary series on netflix about the weird christian/herteronormative twin flames cult where they seemingly transed a bunch of AFAB people into men then made them marry other cult members? you should watch it as inspo but it's really sad and weird.

Dear glans, wtf is "inspo" but also I have not seen, yet I'm not shocked. (and also do not have netflix lol) Not the absolute first time religious types have been weirder about being gay than trans....

I meant "inspo" as in "inspirstion" like looking at a bunch of styles or crafts or athletics or other thing your aspire to. To motivate yourself to excellence.

Im sure this doc is available elsewhere. It is kind of slow and sad about a couple of scammers gaining power over a group of sad lonely women. I think it is the only actual case of ppl being apparently force transed. Done in service of a man who claims to be jesus or something. The cult was a thing to find a partner, but the tactics suggested by the leaders were not good. A bunch of the membership had restraining orders put on them as result of following directions... So they decided to start pairing up the followers in arranged marriages. but since mostly it was only women who joined, and they had a strong cishet vibe going, they needed men. So they started announcing to some of them they they were trans. And made them take hrt, get surgery, change names etc.

The doc managed to not be transphobic, they had a writer/academic jules forgetherlastname who is decent i think to provide context. It is just one of a series of very strange cult things.

Somewhat surprised it doesnt become a moral panic. Too complicated i guess. Too undeniably christian.
