I legitimately do not remember there being many american anarchists or socialists at all prior to that. I'd wager a supermajority of this site here was a lib at that time.
It created the energy that converted into Bernie support, then the Bernie fuckery converted into MLs and anarchists, I would also say it contributed the early direct action experiences and groundwork that led to BLM uprisings as well.
The only way to view all of these things is holistically.
It's hard for me to tell because I live a very isolated life, and don't know a lot of "young people". Everyone I work with are "apolitical" or a brain wormed lib. My sample size is terrible.
I have to wonder how much the trump effect had on peoples willingness to talk openly about these things. It was trendy to be a radlib during trumps presidency, and a lot of the same influencers who inserted the chip to make leftism cool, swapped it out for the "dark Brandon is God 😎" chip.
I also can't discount your points that places like hexbear wouldn't be here if there wasn't some sort of exodus. Millennials have dealt with imperialist horrors our entire adulthood, but were fed lines about the American dream™. Zoomers were just born worn out by how shitty everything is with no promise of a future. That's two different paths to radicalization.
It's my theory as to why there aren't any Zoomer protest bands/songs. They just don't have the energy or the hope things will get better. The difference between Zoomers and Xers in this regard is Xers were sold the bill of lies about this country before you could get on a computer to fact check. Also, enough Xers were able to pull off the career and homeownership part of The American Dream™.

Former here. I canvassed for Bernie in 2016 and now I think Mao was right about most things.
Democrats are weak
True.
