It sucks compared to superior middle aged Japanese women playing Final Fantasy. Feels so cozy compared to HEY WHAT IS UP GAMERHEADS IT'S YA BOY LIL' WOLVERINE BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH ANOTHER hIdDeN gEm FOR THE SNES - SECRET OF MANA

I saw your post from earlier, do you just find the Japanese ones from Niconico?

I'm always looking for Japanese YouTubers but I can't get YouTube to recommend any, no matter how much I watch. I only ever find anything by searching for a specific game name and something generic in Japanese.

This is my method too but sometimes youtube will throw me a bone and recommend me something I'm actually interested in.

Lmao I was literally going to mention both Yuru Gengogaku Radio and Kotolabo and I was going to describe Kotolabo as "Japanese Vsauce" too hahaha

The other ones were きすみ, who builds and 3D prints random stuff; ヘルスカ, who I found through videos wherein he "fixes" the Japanese writing system; だいじろー who talks about English and has a lot of fun shorts; and け゚とま, which is another linguistics channel, this time one of those TTS channels, you know.

I am also familiar with a channel called Minerva Scientia, but I still don't know what the deal with that channel is...? Despite having a lot of videos relating to (particularly historical) linguistics, all the AI and kigurumi stuff just sort of freaks me out a bit.

Lmao that's so funny. Those two channels are great.

Yeah, the main reason I watch videos in Japanese is to keep my listening skills up, and I get clickbaited by those TTS channels all the time. I'd like to listen to at least some narration and then I get Hatsune Miku's monotone evil sister explaining social issues.

But I do watch those others on occasion. I happened to find the same language-focused ones just through searching about linguistics. I didn't know aboutきすみ, but I definitely will watch more, thanks.

And that Minerva channel has an...eclectic...mix of videos. Like a cursed Japanese (2/3)kliksphilip. Chasing trends, I guess, but their language videos look good.

The only other recommendations I have are マスタード, who is a very funny impressionist/streamer, depending on your sense of humor, and サラタメさん, who mostly does book reviews.

Hell yeah I haven't heard of マスタード or サラタメさん, I'll look into them soon

It's been ages since I last watched 3kliksphilip, sheesh...

Incidentally, if you're familiar with jan Misali — a bizarre sort of crossing of worlds happened when jan Misali happened to include Minerva Scientia's Toki Pona language cover of "No Poi" from Gochiusa in the "kijetesumikyoku" medley, which apparently means that The Most Superficial Conlangue Commentator Since The Idiotic B. Gilson is at least slightly familiar with, as you put it, the Cursed Japanese 3kliksphilip. Which sure is something. It was surprising enough to hear freaking "No Poi" in the middle of a medley of Toki Pona music, doubly so to find out who had made that cover.

Oh wow, I love jan Misali, I've actually been re-binging their videos. I'm eagerly awaiting being taught more of the objective truth of the Super Mario franchise (I nominated Frederick Douglass for best Mario character). But this is way deeper into the lore than anything I'm aware of. I only watched the video covering the basics of Toki Pona and I usually don't delve into the music, but that is a wild crossover. (Toki Pona fulfilling its purpose? Nice) And the medley is very cool. But the cover must be under a different name? (Also, I just realized what you meant about the kigurumi stuff...I hate that.)

Yeah, I've always played and watched a lot of CS, so kliksphilip beats almost any channel out there on quality, no matter the topic, and his AI videos are interesting.

Yeah, Minerva Scientia deleted the original upload of "o weka ala!", so now aside from the clip of it used in Moon Moon's "original songs" version of "kijetesumikyoku", it has become Lost Media™.

about the kigurumi stuff...I hate that.

It's like, I don't want to be freaked out by it, because these are costumes and masks with a high amount of craftsmanship, and they serve a practical purpose of letting anyone cosplay as anything without fear of losing their anonymity or having their faces clash with the costume... But also, the masks don't blink, and it's dead silent except for the audible breathing through the mask. Which is kinda freaky.
