Honestly it's because they aren't meant to be likeable for us, they're meant to be likeable for the ruling class. Of course as the ruling class continues to get more and more alienated from the working class, their representatives get further and further from being relatable to the working class.
But my problem is that I doubt even the ruling class likes these guys, it feels like the school bullies picking the bullied kid for some role with responsibility
