also CMV: the ability to crit fail skill checks is lame, not every check should have a 5% chance of comical failure no matter your expertise. lookin at you BG3
You can't crit fail or crit succeed a skill check. You can in BG3 but not in the tabletop. Also any scenario in which you can crit succeed on a 20 (attack rolls), you'll automatically crit fail a 1 even if the DC is 1; 20 is an auto-success but a 1 is also an auto-failure.
Yep, why I modded skill crit fails out as soon as I could lol. It's generally why I prefer the pathfinder method of determining crit success vs failure, and the genesys/star wars narrative dice system's handling even more. Systems with degrees of success/failure, & narrative complications with success or benefits with failure are much more fun IMO

FFG SW/Genesys has probably my favourite dice system. Too bad it's not very suitable for real-time play.
