Vance is so opportunistic that he will be whatever he thinks he needs to be for this election. That's probably the real reason he is the pick. He probably made promises to do whatever Trump wants to get them elected. That might mean a pretense of respectability or it might mean giving the MAGAs red meat. Yeah, probably. I think he's transparently a 2-faced political insider and hack to most people though, so I just don't see it working that well.
