I've heard a few people sing their praises, and a few say that they're not worth it. Some cost $80, some are $400, but I don't really know what makes one better than the other, or either of them better than a $20 glass pipe.

Sometimes if I'm smoking every day I'll develop a cough, so I'm guessing that it's not that great for my lungs. Would a vaporizer be better?

I felt similarly but then got one of these and haven't looked back. No cough or issues despite pretty regular use compared with constant stuffyness when combusting herb

It's using a water pipe with electrically heated glass beads as the heat source rather than a flame. Just have to be careful not to touch yourself with the hot metal

there's a lot of shitty vaporizers out there and the packing def requires more care than a joint or bong

        • if it was brand new that might have been lubricant oils from it being machined. that would taste really vile. in that case you're just supposed to cycle it without anything to get rid of that. I did not have anything like that but I also preemptively cycled it. either that or you despise the toasty flavor

it really depends on what you throw in there. some odors taste good when smoked but not when vaped. i get really lemony light green. gets two very productive sessions out of a bowl at 180° C before it starts to get toasty in a bad way (I roll that stuff into condensed milk and cocoa balls). i just hate cat piss and this other weird flavor i would describe as hardware store
