      Wouldn’t smaller bills be more risky though since no one suspects $20s being fake and don’t think about them?

        Iirc George Floyd was ultimately murdered over a $20 bill. The cashier called the cops because she wrongly suspected it was fake and pigs came and killed him.

      It's probably for security reasons. Keeping change for a $100 in the till requires you have a lot of money in a place it can be easily stolen which fuck corporate and bosses but it does increase the risk of a worker or bystander getting hurt if someone tries to rob the place.
