But why is it in quotes.

"We will not serve anyone who is wearing a mask" - John Nomask 1918

Famous quote from John Nomask who died during the spanish flu cos he didn't wear a mask.

Actually I'm imagining a disgruntled employee being told by the manager to put it on a sign so quoted the manager saying the sentence

You should call them, speak to a manager, and ask them what the manager recommends your immunocompromised friend should do as they have been given directions by their doctor to wear a mask while in public and they would like to eat at the store.

Record the call. Start some shit. This has gotta be an ADA violation.

Fuck McDonald's period, send this to corporate to start some internal shit. Send it to local "authorities" to get them some additional attention from health dept or whoever.

Our alphabetted friends would love to remind us that internal conflict and strife are an excellent way to reduce the capacity of our enemies.

Today also marks a day where my roommate tests positive and has to take an ambulance for Covid and a guy leans out of his car to fake sneeze at me on my way back from the grocery store. See you all in hell, there ain’t no comin back from this shit.

Got COVID last month and after our symptoms cleared up my partner and I went to pick up an order from a restaurant in masks. (Rural South so no delivery).

We just popped in and grabbed our food, but on the way out this entire large table did a countdown (1,2,3!) and then started coughing.

It sounds unbelievable but they were mostly college aged boys.

At risk of doxxing myself it’s a “progressive” one on the west coast US

I probably have a good guess because I used to see that shit with franchisee tyrants regularly too.

These could be called "I LOVE YOU ALL, BUT" laws, demanding pretenses of normalcy when the fucking pandemic hasn't gone anywhere and is continuing to mutate.

No, I'm not letting that chuddery go.

"Now that covid is over" or describing covid in a deliberate past-tense is such a terrifyingly common thing to say pretty much everywhere that it truly is brainworms and doing real harm.

Sorry to go all treatbrained but it really like is those vintage dystopian books and cheaply-produced shows where the protagonist wakes up and everyone is eating with their ass and pooping with their mouth or something and they rapidly lose their mind and start screaming “what the fuck are you doing” at everybody like a raving lunatic (but actually expressing opinions that are completely sane)

I still haven't fully internalized and accepted the murderous absurdity that is nonetheless normalized all around me that "covid is over because... don't want to worry about it anymore."

If history continues to be written and civilization exists in the future in a way that allows history to be interpreted fairly, the current "covid is over" brainworms can and should be seen like the ancient Romans knowing that lead was poisoning them and using it anyway.

Good news! California is banning lead in all fuel, set to take effect in… 2031. So just a couple thousand more years before killing grandma for your treats is no longer acceptable!

This time CA pinky swears it! Although they’ve pushed back the deadline every single time they were gonna ban it earlier.

                  Debate nerd stuff

It’s Avgas (used by piston engines) that has the lead in it. Lead in jet fuel is generally a very bad thing - it makes the spinny things stop!

I think it's even worse tbh because, and I suppose charitably, lead had/has an actual practical use and Covid is literally just a virus. We can't make it into pipes. We can't make it into anything except death and disease. There is no reason for things to be like this regarding pure illness other than everyone sees everyone else in the world as disposable NPCs and themselves as invincible.

That's a big part of why I strove for so long to leave. Shit was horrible.

When it came to covid, they may have performatively masked for social media points, but when they decided covid was over because they wanted easier treat access, how dare you make them feel bad by continuing to wear a mask.

No bike orders is an extra ghoulish load of shit atop the pile. Not that I'd go to McDonald's, but anti-cyclist moves like this are uniquely terrible.

It's probably for security reasons. Keeping change for a $100 in the till requires you have a lot of money in a place it can be easily stolen which fuck corporate and bosses but it does increase the risk of a worker or bystander getting hurt if someone tries to rob the place.
