It constantly blows my mind that Americans ever think this sort of thing is normal. I think I had to wait in line to vote once in 1996, and it was around a 3 minute wait.
It's stupid as hell. I went to the wrong polling place. I guess the one closest to me isn't "my" district's polling place. What the fuck is this dumb system?! I could have put in a provisional ballot. I decided to go to "my" polling place, instead.
The only thing about the whole ordeal that's 20th century in my state (NJ) is the electricity in the voting booth. Everything else about it feels straight out of the 1800s.
