I got an email about support ending in October 2025; isn't this still extremely early? Aren't they usually about two or three versions of windows down the line before they end updates?

You can opt out of the vast majority of command line shit. I do development work and I barely use the terminal at work. I never use it on my personal machine at home. I’ve found that a lot of people who give advice like “run
sudo apt-get install thingy” instead of “go to thingy.com, click download, and then double click the file it downloads” are doing so because they prefer the more command-line oriented way of doing things. Which is fine, but not strictly necessary most of the time, especially if your OS is a glorified container for a web browser.Can I ask what you’ve tried to do in the past that had people sending you straight into the command line?
