Choice quotes:

if Lemmy continues to display outright hostility and toxicity towards Americans at every turn, there is virtually no chance that this platform will ever develop beyond its current fringe status.

I’ve always had thick skin and an open mind, so if I’m getting annoyed by it, my assumption is that most other Americans will find it intolerable. And although we don’t need to be a majority American site by any means, the sheer numbers dictate that if Americans find this site intolerable, it will never achieve mainstream success.

And if I hear one more fucking person say that America only joined World War 2 after it was already over, or that we were cowards for not joining sooner, I swear to God I’ma start criticizing the metric system again

In the comments that led to this post:

I’m American, and the fact that people would accuse me of being a Russian troll is deliciously ironic to me 😂. For one thing, my command of the English language rules that out, which isn’t something I can say about many of you.

another example of circlejerking Europeans doing everything they can to ensure no American would ever want to use Lemmy by acting like morally superior douchebags.

America controls the world, and Europeans are salty about it. I didn’t even realize how salty until I started using Lemmy

a symptom of the relatively larger proportion of Europeans on this site, and their obvious jealousy and insecurity regarding Americans. I still believe that is the most likely explanation.

The number of times that I have seen people refer to the American contribution to WWII as cowardice, meaningless, etc, is too damn high. 400,000 Americans died in that war. Read a fucking history book you ignorant, insensitive fucks.

Some people are smarter and think more independently, while most tend to accept the dominant narrative, because thinking for yourself is emotionally and mentally draining. I would bet my left nut that the average lemming is smarter than the average redditor.

Ultimately, it’s up to the more intelligent people to determine what is true and false, and the best way to do that is through open, uncensored debate.

Neither Lemmy as a whole nor Hexbear specifically are anti-american enough, frankly. US defaultism is still thoroughly rampant, every conversation must be assumed to be about America unless you specify otherwise.

Style guide for American socialists (under threat of being shipped to Alaska under the USSA regime):

      • no more "us" or "we" when referring to the United States government. Just call it "the United States government"
      • no more "Americans", "USians" or "US Americans" in polite company. In casual conversation take a slur of your choice from Maoist Standard English.

Disagree with the first bullet point on account of the second. May I suggest "Burgerland government" or "settlers in chief"?

P.S. I'm lib brain for just renaming things instead of fixing them

Cracker is of course the functional specification for the associated cultural characteristics, but it can apply to any fitting person from any white western country. This is why the maoist dictionary specifies that slur for the Amerikkkans are limited to the set referring to the geographical area+cracker pehnotype and culture.
