That's not to say you can't enjoy it, just that if you're waiting for it to "get good" you may be better off looking for a new show.
You are right of course; the sentiment I was trying to convey is it's a middling show that you can either learn to enjoy as you "build relationships" with the characters, or find uncomfortable in its entirety.
