Without the sponsorship of larger socialist institutions that are present in people's day-to-day lives, protests against police / reactionary policies / fascism in general are mostly just a form of ritual; one that has the effect of venting popular outrage rather than actually channeling it into revolutionary potential.

I don't know if that's an unpopular opinion here, but I've definitely taken flak for it in my own irl circles.
