For real. Thats why a lot of cities are removing or reducing minimum parking requirements for new housing development. Because they literally pass on those costs to people. Also it's ugly as fuck.
Americans love parking lots that they spend over half their discretionary spending on making every other country on earth a parking lot too.
Everyone watch this presentation by the guy who started this conversation, Donald Shoup. He's pretty funny and frank and it's mind boggling how we've built our cities around what ifs for cars.
