The fire is underground, standing on the surface you wouldn’t know there’s anything wrong with the place. I’ve heard some people say they see whisps of smoke but I’ve only ever seen it on the painted highway which is not really close to those houses.

The nearest town is Ashland which is just over the mountain, that place is your typical PA coal town. Very run down and decrepit. Mount Carmel is nearby, a much bigger town with many of the same issues. If you go about 45 min north you get to Bloomsburg which is a pretty nice town. So yea this area is pretty poor as hell. Although, the people that stayed were mostly the kind of people who wouldn’t leave if the place was actively burning down.

I grew up not far from Centralia. I’ve been there a few times to geocache and hike the painted highway. The painted highway is (was?) cool as fuck but man that is a steep hill and brutal in the summer. The town itself has become really overgrown. You really wouldn’t even realize there’s a town there at all except the street grid that’s left behind, a cemetery, and a couple houses and I think there’s a fire station there too. The only time I ever saw smoke coming from the ground was once on the painted highway, we actually went there for a school trip in college. It’s was geology class.

This is very similar, instead of players you’re looking at companies, researching the market, etc. it takes a lot of time and you’ll never have the resources to beat the whales unless you get lucky. But I think average folk can make it consistently good on this.

But no matter which way you cut it it’s always going to be exploitation of the working class. That money doesn’t come from no where, and if it did then it would devalue the rest of our money.

We live in a capitalist society and we’re all struggling to make ends meet. I don’t fault anyone out there for getting into something like this to try to dig yourself out of a hole but you gotta own what you’re doing. This shit is wrong and you are not being a good leftist by participating in this shit. That said, I got loans and debt to that pay off and it would be nice to pay back my parents for all the help they’ve given me through the years. I’ll take a chance to make some money when I finish getting set up.
