By "aggressive light show" they mean they gave people suntans on their eye balls with UV-C lighting that is used to sterilize things.
Clive said he thinks they manufactured a shitload of them for covid and the supply has been being discounted off, so they might be cheaper.
Naw this took place in Hong Kong. If anything they probably mistook some standard black-lights for UV-C. You can easily score UV-C bulbs on places like aliexpress if you are not careful. If you watch enough Big Clive on youtube you will start to get a feel how caveat emptor it all is when it comes to electronics from that region.
I love buying from aliexpress. What will I get? Who fucking knows. Authentic products in their original packaging? Pure monoatomic cadmium? A cutting edge prototype that wasn't supposed to leave the lab? A product loaded with viruses and malware? Something totally different from what I ordered by somehow still awesome? I fucking love seeing the DHL label on my stoop it gives me life.
Also when you're buying craft supplies the suppliers often throw in freebies and gifts and extras which is always fun and charming.
God this is so real. My favorite is trying to track down the latest fly by night bootleg blahaj seller. I love my 140cm pink and purple hajs so fuckin much. I've sent several to friends. The listing always goes down and then comes back up elsewhere.
...I might order myself another giant purple haj later...
One of the best videos I saw was of Linus Tech Tips buying a clearly counterfit Intel Xeon processor. Lets just say the jank was amazing. Its why I love ashens and big clive.
You're describing the region where the vast majority of electronics are made, most likely including the one you used to type that.
Oh for sure, that is exactly why something like this can happen. When you buy close to the source like these event planners did you want to watch out. Those discount lamps you are getting mighr be UV-C. The people selling this stuff to you expect you to know what you are doing is what my comment is saying.
Grifters throwing festivals as cheaply as possible causing rich, gullible rubes to suffer emotional and/or physical trauma is my new favorite genre.
What's funny is that I bet the ape-holders are going to shy away from pressing charges or filing a lawsuit because it would hurt the value of their apes.
Nah, these are get rich quick types. If anything they'll sue just to make the quicker buck now that their line-go-up scheme stalled out.
