Nobody watches History Channel any more. History addicts are all on Youtube now. And they do a much better job than THC ever did on historical shows. The Youtubers really get down into the weeds and cover obscure, super-interesting topics that you never knew about. And when they take on the well-known events, they show you things you didn't know about them, too. Starters:

    The History Guy https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4sEmXUuWIFlxRIFBRV6VXQ/videos

    Plainly Difficult https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb0MyY46T9ZYOzDHkYnIoXg/videos

    Qxir https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGHDQtN_vzFYJaq_Fx1eikg/videos

And for those who like nazis and commies, History Hustle https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYLJ8hULBTjTTmJZGL-dq-A/videos He does a good job showing all these people who were super enthusiastic to join up with the fascists and how they all came to bad ends, even those few who survived the war.

In one of them he goes to a piece of land where there used to be a German field hospital. There is a team unearthing skeleton after skeleton, still wearing their iron crosses and "Gott mit uns" belt buckles. He identifies each fatal injury: a headshot, shattered bones from a shell explosion , etc. A wonderful tutorial on what it means to join the fascists.
