They release like two or three feature length videos a year with titles like "What Scooby Doo: Cyberchase has to say about parasocial relationships"

The problem with breadtube is that every time a youtuber does something bad they try to associate them with breadtube. I mean, i've seen people calling SDL and Destiny "breadtube". Why? How?

Seriously, "breadtube" doesn't exist at this point, and if it does, it's just like 5 youtubers. Not every youtuber who is friends with Contra is a breadtube. Look at Jenny Nicholson, she is friends with Lindsay Ellis and made fun of a chud book once and now she is supposed to be in the club now?

i just take breadtube to mean leftist youtubers, i don't really think of it as a cohesive group

If you call Hakim or Luna "breadtube" a lot of online MLs will get very mad.

Like, guys, who cares. Only fans use that label. All "breadtubers" have said that they hate it.

Oh no, say whatever you want. As i said, who cares?

Also, making them mad by calling Hakim a breadtuber is the perfect punishment for them being too online. I'm sure even he would find it funny.

That's the thing, it is just a cultural affectation now. Mildly leftliberal perspectives on entertainment are breadtube but so are economic theory videos? It ends up just being a game of who is the more moral or better person because they watch such and such content creator. It not a project, and it was never intended to be by anyone making content, but it was made by fans as a means to turn politics into another series of signifiers
