They release like two or three feature length videos a year with titles like "What Scooby Doo: Cyberchase has to say about parasocial relationships"

What even is a breadtube? Is it all left and left-adjacent content on youtube? Is it a political classification, where a breadtuber is a radlib? An aesthetic, meaning all feature-length political video essays that have costumes and bi lighting? Is it a social group, every youtuber who was at Lindsey Ellis's wedding? It's a bit nebulous. Is Hakim breadtube, or Yugopnik? Most people would say no. Is Luna Oi breadtube? Her husband probably is. PhilosophyTube certainly is breadtube, by 3 out of the 4 defintions i listed, but all i can criticize about her vids is what i can criticize about all the stuff on youtube, that it's published on a corporate platform with predatory engagement-maximizing algorithms and that her channel inevitably leads to parasocial celebrity worship.

It's absolutely correct that the nature of the platform and youtube fandoms are in themselves problematic, but at the same time, youtube is too big and too important to stop having a presence there as the left. I wouldn't be here without PhilosophyTube and Non-Compete, and i wouldn't have come across their content without total libs like Lindsey Ellis and ContraPoints. It's expected and good that leftists move beyond most or all of that after a while, but having a radlib to revolutionary leftist pipeline is important, and i think i'm not the only one here where that worked.
