even if China's population stagnates or even starts decreasing they have a very long way to go before they their economic development ceiling, whereas the US has pretty much hit its ceiling with a neoliberal economic model. a lot of the current labor force in China isn't as educated as they could be (something that's changing with Gen Z) so they could increase their productivity by quite a bit. if they stay on a Marxist path they would also be able to educate more thoroughly and more people than economies which revolves around profit.
