IMO the republics who felt that membership in the USSR wasn't serving them should have been allowed to split off, but the dissolution of the Union was never intended by anyone involved in it to be a democratic process. link

IMO the republics who felt that membership in the USSR wasn't serving them should have been allowed to split off, but the dissolution of the Union was never intended by anyone involved in it to be a democratic process.
