The official Israel Twitter account made a post about them trying and failing to extract semen from a dead idf soldier so that 'his and his widow's dream of having more children could live on' with like an animation recounting the wife's quest to get his semen preserved. I wish I was joking.

It's not just one person - they've done this shit 33 times in the past month. From this article:

As of early this week, this procedure has been performed on 33 men killed since October 7 – four civilians and the rest soldiers. The number is rising daily.

“When in the afternoon we heard the IDF spokesman announce that there were ‘fierce battles,’ we knew we had to prepare for the evening,” says a member of the Health Ministry team that accompanies families through the procedure, known in the jargon as “sperm utilization.”

It's some serious sci-fi dystopia shit lmao

In general, most requests come from the parents of soldiers killed in action, and early in the war, the Health Ministry's legal adviser handed down a temporary order lifting the need for court approval. The order has been extended a number of times and is now in force through the end of November.

“Even though Peter did not expressly state that he wanted his sperm to be used for reproductive purposes,” the judge wrote, “should his parents choose to do so in the future, it would not do violence to his memory.”

Jesus Christ this is horrifying precedent. In 2019, a parent has so much control over their child's bodily autonomy that a judge can grant permission to use their reproductive organs when they are permanently incapacitated.

This is a symptom of a bigger problem, but this is so fucked up.
