The entire staff quitting restaurant kitchens, people demanding dignified work and chapo is not going ballistic? What's wrong comrades?
Also why is there no labour comm?
If there is organizing among the masses with clear message yes. Otherwise most of this surge may just mean more people wanting to vote socdems if thats the only avenue of political and frustruation expression thats available/allowed to them and are exposed to (which isnt bad in a vacuum electoral harm reduction wise, just a waste overall and not how a socialist movement should be taking advantage of that discontent and anti-status quo energy)
Honestly, we're a really small website, there's like, 200 posts a day.
If you start posting about it here I'm almost certain it will get the attention it deserves.
Yeah, really seems like Fash can’t read or understand how to work a computer, cause they’re everywhere out here irl
I have strong doubts. There was constant talk of this online in the summer. I remember a place I worked eas supposed to be striking but never did.
More talk than ever before. I think zooming out a bit it really feels the labour movement is building.
Yep. There's no way to tell if this will turn into anything.
However, if it does turn out to be something, we're very, very early in the movement right now.
I agree, but I think there's a certain amount of cart-before-the-horse-type magical thinking involved here. Even those of us who wouldn't normal give credence to slacktivism are retweeting posts calling for a general strike on such and such a date knowing full well we're gonna show up to work that day. In effect it just underlines labor's current powerlessness and how disconnected the posting left is from a real mass struggle.
There should be a labor or organizing comm, seriously. Tactics is kinda related and sometimes organizing and labor matters are posted there, but it seems like it would be suited to have its own portion.
There is but the opportunity here is to organize it with a socialist class consciousness. It will be at serious risk of cooption / fizzling out without us organizing.
Join your local big socialist org that you can tolerate and organize with labor today.
Takes a lot of guts to do that, the rest of us ought to take note.
We gotta take notes how those workers organized - decentralized, spontaneous - and what their method is - irony and a lighthearted approach to a difficult topic
A lot of the organizing for this is on Facebook last time I checked last summer. I deleted mine but I'm going to make a new one just to see if I can't help in some way. Probably going to have to make an IG with that account too
It's great news for sure. I think we had a thread about it yesterday.
