I know Foreign Policy isn't their actual internal stance, but this is not a great take on Palestine by the CPC Propaganda department organ.

If they said they support Palestine they would be accused of hypocrisy (even though it would be a gross false equivalence), but doing this they will just be accused of trying to give "tankies" plausible deniability for disagreeing on this one point. That's my terminal online brain take anyway.

Yeah, maybe. And critical support for China here of course. But I just wish they'd more openly embrace internationalism sometimes.
That's the whole point of critical support imo. Only communists are allowed to criticize china, vietnam, dprk, cuba, etc. imo. That's my Official Anarchist (TM) take.
