I know Foreign Policy isn't their actual internal stance, but this is not a great take on Palestine by the CPC Propaganda department organ.
EDIT: They deleted it. Thanks to the chad in the Central Committee who squashed this. Remember, Bullying Works.
PRC foreign policy was mostly shit since Sino-Soviet split.
Yeah...feels bad :sadness:
Xi's been better though. The Belt and Road has a lot to like about it.
The Sino-Soviet split and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
That's true, and I'm not cancelling the entire CPC over a single crappy take. But it was a full article with a frankly offensive comic and critique was warranted imo.
And the China Daily is closer to the party line than, say, the SCMP. It generally is a good guide of the CPCs general stance, if not their detailed internal policy. I've used them in the past to illustrate where the CPC and other Chinese media might disagree.
I mean, if you write "China bad" it kinda sounds like you're doing the usual radlib thing of "This one thing about China bad so you cant support it while wanting it to improve". Like yeah its a dumb meme or whatever but its easy for people to just assume this is the usual bad faith.
Yeah, good point. maybe I let my inner edgelady get the best of me with the title
There is a fuckton of Chinese investment in Israeli Tech, and they also own its largest seaport. They also support the shitty two-state """"solution""""".
Maybe the critical-support for China wasn't so critical after all :thinkin-lenin:
Maybe the critical-support for China wasn’t so critical after all
critical doesn't mean like a critical hit in a video game you gamer
I guess I'm just so many layers of irony poisoned that I immediately figured it was a deliberate bit while also providing a correct definition of critical support. Edit: I upvoted you both because I naturally assumed your reply was yet another layer of irony.
Irony? My comment was criticizing this site's use of "critical support" when a lot of people just blindly support.
You do realize that you are dragging users for supporting China without criticism... in a thread that is 100% about criticizing China's foreign policy positions?
That's kind of a weird place to post this take, since the existence of this thread negates the premise of your argument. It's understandable that no one thought your original comment was sincere and generously assumed that you were being ironic.
The existence of one thread negates nothing, what kinda kangaroo logic are you using lol. If I post one positive Gorbachev thread in here are you going to start saying hexbear has a positive view of him?
Sarcasm is lost through text but there was nothing jokey about my post. Except if you think seaports are funny for some reason, but you do you I won't judge.
You have to admit it's a little weird to start getting snarky about how there's never any criticism of China... in a thread about criticizing China's foreign policy stance.
At the very least it muddled whatever point you were trying to make, which is evidenced by the fact that no one thought you are being serious until you had the opportunity to clarify that you were not being ironic several comments deep.
Also, China struggle sessions are one of the most frequent struggle sessions I see on this website. I don't know where you get the impression that criticism of China is rare in these parts.
Here's a statement by the spokesperson of the Chinese MFA for context on the official Chinese line.
HRTN: Violence and tension in East Jerusalem has been escalating. We learned that the Security Council held an emergency consultation on the situation in East Jerusalem on May 10, but the release of an outcome document experienced hindrance. Can you tell us more?
China condemns violence targeting civilians. We call on parties to avoid provocative rhetoric and acts and take actions conducive to reducing violence and achieving a soft-landing of the situation, so as to restore peace and stability on the ground at an early date. Facing the on-going tensions, China believes that the Security Council should do something to reaffirm commitment and firm support to the two-state solution, work for the deescalation of the situation and fulfill the obligations of upholding international peace and security. As the president of the Security Council for this month, China will continue to do its best to ensure that the Council take actions about the situation in East Jerusalem as soon as possible.
So yeah, hardly great. Sounds like something my shitty lib country would put out. But it's to be expected given China's policy of non-interference into other countries' affairs.
If they said they support Palestine they would be accused of hypocrisy (even though it would be a gross false equivalence), but doing this they will just be accused of trying to give "tankies" plausible deniability for disagreeing on this one point. That's my terminal online brain take anyway.
I think preventing the deaths of Palestinians is more important than giving libs ammo to insult China
That's why in the other post I said they should have just waited for someone to mention them for not weighing in and then just quote tweet it with the "That's bait" gif from Fury Road. China State media needs to hire some Maoist zoomers for their social media I guess is what I'm getting at.
I don't know if the world could handle it tbh, Chen Weihua goes hard enough as a boomer
Yeah, maybe. And critical support for China here of course. But I just wish they'd more openly embrace internationalism sometimes.
That's the whole point of critical support imo. Only communists are allowed to criticize china, vietnam, dprk, cuba, etc. imo. That's my Official Anarchist (TM) take.
China is Israel's 3rd biggest trading partner so this is expected.
