The US state department keeps getting ratioed by Chen Weihua's posts and has to come up with an explanation: bots :ancient-aliens-guy:
When everything on the internet that has to do with engagement is artificially manipulated, it's not even hard to believe. What's hard to believe is taking any of these metrics at their face value to begin with.
so massive that it hardly breaks 100 likes. very massive indeed.
It's just noise blasted out into the media void. It's a bit more mortar to join the bricks of preconceived bias. But it only works on people who have been practically raised from the cradle hearing about how China Bad. Without that foundation, this is indistinguishable from the old folks insisting they're getting blocked on Twitter/YouTube/Facebook because they're not getting enough engagement from their grandkids.
his tweets get like 30 - 100 likes on average
I'm not familiar with Twitter, but those numbers are way too small to justify the "army of fake accounts" accusation, right? This feels like one of those "let's make people believe it's true by publishing headlines" kinds of anti-China propaganda.
Western nations would never defile the marketplace of ideas like this. Despicable.
I knew they's use the shit they used on Trump against the left.
that article is total bullshit. their evidence that the tweets are from shills is that between 5 and 10 percent of accounts who have retweeted pro china things have been suspended. even if there was enough suspensions to infer anything, which there's not, correlation does not imply causation. more likely for the suspensions is that people brigade report anything pro china, and that people who are willing to re-tweet pro china shit don't give a fuck about some corporate websites terms of use.
they also fault twitter for not labeling everyone who works for the chinese government as a chinese government account, meanwhile there are hundreds of members of congress who use twitter, and most of these are not labeled 'us government account' either.
ap is fucking garbage.
