Remember when Woodward interviewed Trump and Trump admitted that he knew the virus was airborne, and Woodward sat on it for like 10 months so he would have that dunk to include in his insufferable book about the guy?

I doubt it would have made any difference in the scheme of things, but what a horrible thing for a journalist to do.

Woodward is shit. In fact - he's been shit for decades. Long ago he decided that "journalism" was when he took dictation, meticulously checked his dictation, edited the dictation into book form - meanwhile at no time whatsoever did he take an ethical stand. Via that crap he became a much vaunted doyen of American journalism. Plus he made giant heaps of money. I assume far more $10 million.

Remember when Woodward... sat on it for like 10 months

        I remember.

Woodward committed a vile, evil act and his only viable "excuse" could be that he did so to sell more of his fucking book.

It made me want to vomit that it didn't hurt the grand old man's reputation a single iota.

"Performative impartiality" is a hell of a mindset. Most DC jornos - especially White House correspondents - creep me the fuck out. My favorite example is NYT chief White House correspondent Peter Baker...

As reporters, our job is to observe, not participate, and so to that end, I don't belong to any political party, I don't belong to any non-journalism organization, I don't support any candidate, I don't give money to interest groups and I don't vote.

I try hard not to take strong positions on public issues even in private, much to the frustration of friends and family. For me, it's easier to stay out of the fray if I never make up my mind, even in the privacy of the kitchen or the voting booth, that one candidate is better than another, that one side is right and the other wrong.
