Depends on when. Normal people looked more or less the same. Pants tightened and the polo shirt bro became a thing. The whole emo craze was there but adults probably aren't gonna dress that way super hard and everyone ready wants to pretend to be goth. Post 2005 fashion hasn't changed all that much really.
They probably feel validated that 90s music has had a pretty long resurgence.
