O say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave
This made me realise I have absolutely no clue what the lyrics for Star Spangled Banner are.
I just copied and pasted from Google, I think it's normally longer maybe? Dumb song anyways.
There are verses that involve slavery. Those verses are NOT sang in sports games.
"Ho! Say, can you see? By the dawn's early light? Get out of my goddamn bed I have to go to work."
- George Washington
