funny, my old band tried to make me into THAT GUY. The other guitar player was annoyingly swapping pedals in and out of his board, my bassist was the same but to a lesser extent, and they bullied me into trying all sort of different pedals, like taking my modded DS-1 off, then my TS-9DX, trying a Rat clone (didnt like it). before trying a Walrus Voyager, which I REALLY loved the sound of. I tried a Brutalist, but didnt like my sound, stacked OD pedals, but that got cumbersome.
i shrank my pedalboard down to a tuner -> Walrus Audio Voyager -> Walrus ARP-87 -> EHX Oceans 11. and I love my tone.
thankfully they could never convince me to part with my amp, A Sovtek Mig-50H, i only got more of them, though my friends Mig-50 reissue was looking 👀, so i bought that the moment he needed the money.
it’s funny cause we were just too young and stupid, with me just being old enough to not give a shit anymore. I’ve seen too many band show off gear and be uninteresting, and bands work with what they have and blow the doors off a venue,
the lead guitar player in City of Caterpillar uses a DS-1 and a Blues Driver ffs. really shut them up for a while seeing that

:cringe:
overdrive pedals on bass can be dope. Also delay if the bassist knows how to use it, but these are very specific circumstances.
whatever happened to the days when bassists put the thickest possible gauge strings on a Squire bass and played solely in drop C smdh kids these days
they're still playing at the local coffee shop that set up a stage for hardcore/scene bands?
:07:
well, guess which one mine was?
you play heavy music dont you? i'm assuming overdrive haha
overdrive drive does sound nice, i cant be sure to call my friend a “bassist who knows how to use” much of anything.
no
lol i had this in mind when i said they can be dope
