    In Evangelion, the entire fate of the world depends on the ulterior motives of two paramilitary organisations acting independently of the UN and endangering the lives of civilians in the world's last remaining cities so that their superweapon can trigger a doomsday scenario. If there's one thing I took away from Evangelion it was not pro-military.

      The Japanese military put on a big show recently where its orchestra played Evangelion music in a grand blue curtained patriotic display. shinji-screm

        call me western centric but the "fortunate son" / "born in the USA" effect transcends borders because it is tied deeply to nationalism
