An Argentinian called into Sam Seder's show and he talked about how dire the situation was, how incredibly unstable the economy has been and how supermarket employees had to change price tags on groceries sometimes multiple times in a single day. The caller said that the people want nothing more than stability and the choice was between the centrist guys who had been in power for 16 years or this complete lunatic, so (from my understanding) his election is basically a hailmary by the Argentinians who want anything but the current status quo.

He won by a wide margin, but Truss managed to fuck everything spectacularly in ways no one thought was possible, so there is that option.

He won by a wide margin but it should be noted that his opponent is the fucking current minister of economics like holy shit.

Economy fucked by neoliberalism + appealing to anti-communist paranoia + far-right populism.

I can see him being very popular with the boomers and the young apoliticals adults. he is pretty much a dollar store trump.
