Explain to me how a book costs $1650. Is this like hospitals billing $50 for a tylenol where it's just two accounting departments jerking each other off?

Just going to make a wild guess here, was it written by the course's professor?

What the? Did a monk enscribe this book over 4 years in a monastery? I thought the printing press was invented so that we could drive the prices down!

I am a scribe with the Brothers of St. McGraw-Hill. There are not many of us left, but we are true in our faith and lifelong artisans. My fingers are arthritic and my back broken after many hours hunched over in our scriptorium, painstakingly ensuring that every letter of our lord's tongue is given its full breadth of beauty. I paint these textbooks on vellum that I skin from calves I raise by hand as my children. My works are featured at the Vatican, at seminaries and museums, sold as high art in galleries but meant for enlightenment. For knowledge. Though they cost more than a printed book the importance of the subject is mirrored in the artistry of the medium. OP, please enjoy your Introduction to Microeconomics textbook. May it guide you in Christ's footsteps.

This version of Christ I assume, if it's microeconomics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9EXnVitkmo

Jesus was a carpenter. That makes him an independent contractor with UBC Local Judea, microeconomics being very useful. Though I grew up wishing to transcribe scripture and prove my devotion to god through my works, this was the only abbey hiring sex offenders and they mostly produce 101-level textbooks.

          A comment...

I liked the part where Jesus was like, "Hey leper, I'd heal you but it says here you don't have insurance." Truly, he loves capitalism.

Ngl, if I had that kind of money, I'd give it if my introduction to lasers note book had hand drawn drawings laser eyed giant snails zapping crusaders.

That's not how capitalism works. Prices never go down.

Nearly all my textbooks came with a code for the online work. That code was required for the class.
