    I think the whole monarchy thing with bees is pure human projection. There is no evidence that the queen rules the other bees. We call it a queen because humans couldn't imagine a highly efficient social species without an authoritarian ruler.

      I've read/ seen similar things about ants in documentaries. At least with some of them, if the "Queen" isn't panning out, they bite her head off and get a new one.
