It was fantastic. I didn’t even have to cook anything or have awkward interactions with family. I don’t think I worried about anything for the whole day, which is a pretty big deal for me.
SAN DIEGO—Lying on the couch in his cramped, poorly lit apartment, local man Mark Borkowski was reportedly having the best Thanksgiving of his life Thursday while getting high and eating Taco Bell thousands of miles away from his family. “Wow, I never knew this holiday could be so genuinely wonderful,” said Borkowski, sitting alone with a glass pipe in one hand and a chalupa in the other as he watched episodes of How I Met Your Mother on his laptop. “The Taco Bell guy got my order pretty much right, and I still have plenty of weed. Meanwhile, my parents are on the other side of the country and in a totally different timezone, so our entire interaction this year was a five-minute phone call while I packed this bowl. There truly is so much to be thankful for.” At press time, sources confirmed an elated Borkowski was reflecting on the likelihood that this year his Christmas wish would come true and he’d spend the holiday getting totally shitfaced on vodka.
(I called my family yesterday and read this to them.)
Calibarn. I’m basically done I just need to clean up the shield pieces and put it together, and that’s it.
Next one is the Lfrith and I’ll probably start on that tomorrow.
I also ordered a cheap bootleg Sakura Freedom and I’m curious to see how good or bad it is.
Is there a comm where you and or others post pics of your gunpla because that'd be fun for the rest of us to see
The hobby comm would be perfect for that imo. I haven’t posted any pics of mine, but maybe I should.
I forgot !hobby@hexbear.net exists despite being subscribed to it lol
I think you definitely should I love looking at pics of models like this. It's a hobby I always wanted to do but don't for lots of reasons so I like to vicariously live through others
Lots... space for one, I don't have a good place to put them or the stuff. Money is another, it can be expensive! Also I'm real bad at art...I've painted minis before but oof I'm bad. And bad at gluing. And just bad at it
I've got other skills and hobbies that I'm much better at. Maybe someday
So I can say… There’s no painting or gluing involved. The biggest thing is getting rid of the nubs where you cut it, with glass file + sanding paper. I usually spend a lot of time on this but only because I’m anal about it.
Also, as far as cost, first kit I got (Aerial) was I think $17? The tools I mostly already had, don’t cost too much online. The fancier kits definitely get pricey, but the High Grade kits are usually $15-$25, which isn’t too pricey compared to a lot of hobbies. I’m also looking into bootleg kits which can be a decent amount cheaper, especially for Master Grade and similar.l, but I have no clue about typical quality yet with those.
Someone could probably start a model building thread in !hobby@hexbear.net.
I need to get around to putting my action stand together for my stupid robot toys lol.
Edit: I suggested chat or anime at first, but hobby is the better place for that.
Nice. I want the Calibarn and the new Votoms Scopedog, but I need to finish the Zeta ver Ka that I started forever ago first lol.
I also ordered a cheap bootleg Sakura Freedom and I’m curious to see how good or bad it is.
Hope it turns out well. Gotta love a pink robot!
I seen someone on tumblr saying they built their first gunpla and it made me smile and tear up a little. Thought it sweet and cute ^^
