Get in there and push back against China Bad propaganda.

/r/UrbanHell is one of the better places to push leftist messages on reddit. It's big (600,000+ subscribers) but most comment sections are manageable, and housing conditions/urban development is so fucked up in much of the U.S. that you can find a pleasant amount of support for public housing efforts, even in AES states. "These big scary AES states actually give a shit about their people" is also a great way to get people to question how scary leftism actually is.

Now I understand why libs keep pushing the idea that China is going to stab Russia in the back and steal Siberia: space for a billion people worth of suburbs.

xiongan is actually a sort of new left policy pilot program, there was a high barrier to entry in that local hukous could buy in at discount prices while everyone else had to pay market price

bunch of real estate speculators got fucked when they saw the massive government support coming in and bought in a while back when the city was just starting up, then everything got rent controlled and price ceilinged lmfao

Every sizeable subreddit sucks, and you're right that this one isn't much better. You do get comments calling this stuff out pretty regularly, though -- I've seen more "this looks pretty normal, actually" comments than I can remember. Take a look at the top comment on this post:

Organized and well spaced buildings is bad apparently give it 10 year trees and plants will mature and it'll look like a nice city or town.

Leftists can make some headway there.

Geez, an active half way finished construction site looks unappealing to live in? Damn. I wouldn't have guessed.

Any time Pyonyang is posted there you have people pointing to the lack of vehicle traffic and litter and calling it dystopian.

They had a surprisingly refreshing thread on the DPRK a while back. People were gushing over the lack of advertising in the picture posted.

I also recall some good "the Korean War was actually genocidal slaughter" content on a few DPRK posts. People are a lot more receptive to learning stuff like that outside of explicitly political subs.

Not sure what you mean but this is gorgeous. If you mean setting examples that people look at and say "That is better than anything we have" then yes, absolutely yes. It is precisely the kind of thing that might make people finally question whether the system they have is optimal and whether there is progress to be made.

If what you mean are modteams that could be turned communist. Then yeah this is a susceptible team in my opinion. You just need a couple commies on it and in 6 months work you could flip it and turn it into a vessel for communist designed urban environments and against capitalist design.

Just a few comments from the top:

Say what you will, but you'll never see the US government this committed to housing people.

          Exactly.

Now imagine 30 years from now when China actually has more resources per capita than the US and is actually investing that in something truly fucking incredible for the people.

A socialist country with more resources than the current US will be a fucking beacon of humanity and there will be almost no stopping people from looking at it positively.

This doesn't even get into what the Chinese movie industry and the Chinese videogame industry is going to do. Even Gamers will come onto China's side when their industry starts to churn out games they like year after year after year.

Look at the current situation now. The media has ensured that most of the things that westerners know about PRC is wrong. Even then, you think they'll come around?

Right now? No. In time? Yes I absolutely think people will question why China has everything better than everywhere else. Will the media still be a problem? Of course it will. But the intelligentsia will turn regardless of the media and when the intelligentsia turns you have a very serious problem.

There are several core countries I think will flip or become deep sympathisers and allies. Spain, Italy, Greece, Ireland. The landscape will change greatly over the next few decades.

Basis for this? Are their academics generally better right now?

Class consciousness is considerably higher in them, they all have lefts that are extremely entrenched and successful. The internal pressures within them are strong enough to at least prevent the right from doing their whole "let's unite against China" bit. This is a chunk of the reason that Europe is not marching in step with the US on the issue.

The EU is under the strain of splitting. All of these countries have tearaway potential and the EU has to play the game in a way that does not upset their populations. It is in fact because the EU is not united and is currently so fragile that they can't form a clear front.

Europe is generally marching in step with the US narrative on Xinjiang. The EU have sanctioned Chinese officials. They dumped 5G when the US came knocking. They suspended the CAI agreement.
