Applying soap leaves a small film across your body that interacts with water, allowing the water to get into smaller crevices. If the soap is covered in shit, and you then attempt to apply soap to your body, you will just apply shit instead, “clean” or otherwise. The function of the soap has become compromised, and therefore the soap itself has become dirty.
