Man, I hate what Souls games have done to fantasy aesthetics. Can we have a little bit of color that doesn't look like desaturated blue gray, as a treat?

I think it’s mostly that all of the characters just look like a pile of dull-colored rags.

The first two were really colorful and interesting and then they learned they could just market "hard" and "edgy" instead.

Just going off the trailer it looks like here they're using color both well and deliberately though. Each scene has a clear environmental palate that's itself slightly desaturated, which is then heavily contrasted with points of bright and vibrant color. It does seem to be leaning most heavily on like orange, yellow, and red, which contributes to stuff like the grass looking desaturated since it's lit with orange environmental lighting.

My mind is still blown as no one has even bothered replicating it. They described the key component of their design as "dignity" which really makes sense especially when you compare a souls design, to the expected chainmail bikini giant shoulder pads number. And this is from Japan where giant shoulder pads were actually a thing.

I think you see people trying the " heavy metal with low battery" thing because they can't use restraint with the design and rightly distaining that. Unless I am wrong.
