    KILL ME HARDER, DADDY MIYAZAKI

FR, incredible anything with GRRM's name attached is actually being released, though.

Man, I hate what Souls games have done to fantasy aesthetics. Can we have a little bit of color that doesn't look like desaturated blue gray, as a treat?

I think it’s mostly that all of the characters just look like a pile of dull-colored rags.

The first two were really colorful and interesting and then they learned they could just market "hard" and "edgy" instead.

Am I crazy or was this really colorful?

Just going off the trailer it looks like here they're using color both well and deliberately though. Each scene has a clear environmental palate that's itself slightly desaturated, which is then heavily contrasted with points of bright and vibrant color. It does seem to be leaning most heavily on like orange, yellow, and red, which contributes to stuff like the grass looking desaturated since it's lit with orange environmental lighting.

My mind is still blown as no one has even bothered replicating it. They described the key component of their design as "dignity" which really makes sense especially when you compare a souls design, to the expected chainmail bikini giant shoulder pads number. And this is from Japan where giant shoulder pads were actually a thing.

I think you see people trying the " heavy metal with low battery" thing because they can't use restraint with the design and rightly distaining that. Unless I am wrong.

Was kind of hoping we were gonna get a new story but apparently we're just rehashing the first one again. Gameplay looks both interesting and concerning. Open world elements could be fun depending on how they're handled but I have low expectations of open worlds. Half of the combat stuff looked cool and the other half looked pretty cringe, the jumping horse crap and the spinning anime ninja moves stood out as kinda meh. Combat looks a little slower and more deliberate like the older games which is a plus.

Honestly, I vastly prefer the faster paced combat of DS3, BB and Sekiro, and I really hope Elden Ring is a faster paced game. DS1 and DS2 feel way too clunky for my fucked up ADHD brain, which can really mess with my reaction timing and hand eye coordination at times. Not saying I dislike DS1 or DS2, but there's a reason I've only beat each of those games once and barely touched them since, meanwhile I've gotten the Platinum trophy on both DS3 and Sekiro.

DWGR was a meme and if you didn't bust out laughing the first time you put it on because it was so ridiculous you missed the joke.

What I'm curious about is if they're doing the Dark Souls/Bloodborne thing of having varied weapon and character build options, or if they're going more for Sekiro's tight focus on one weapon type since they only show the sword and buckler.

2 is the best in the series, but there's an organized conspiracy to suppress this truth

IMO, DS2 is worth playing. Judging from the trailer though, the gameplay looks like it'll be much closer to Dark Souls 3. Personally I'd play both, but if I had to prioritize one with the goal of preparing for Elden Ring, I'd go straight to DS3.

I’ve never played the games, but from what I’ve heard/seen, DKS2 is pretty good but Scholar of the First Sin makes it worse.

If you have a PC, I’d recommend getting the regular edition.

That being said, if you like the games a lot I’m sure you’d enjoy Scholar enough.
