i have no idea what the fuck that stuff is supposed to be or taste like. It's like someone was tasked with making "brown" a soda flavor and for whatever reason this is the most popular flavor? It tastes like brown what the actual fuck is this stuff and why does everyone like it so much???
It's supposed to be kola bean and caramel flavoured fizzy drink. I'd say it's a sub-par soda, but advertising, deals with fast food giants to be the default drink and buying shelf space is a usually more then enough to keep a product popular even when better colas are out there.
I once tried a cola drink from New Zealand brand called Phoenix and it was so good that it made me realise how tasteless coke cola is now. Like Coke just tastes like sweetener now.
IIRC kola beans were only used for the caffeine, most of the flavor comes from vanilla, cinnamon, and citrus oils.

Yeah, Phoenix is good. Also Fritz Cola in northern Germany is amazing.
