The reporting on this collapse has been awful, like for most of yesterday no one seemed to know if there were even people in the building when it collapsed. The Miami Herald was reporting on how much each of the units cost but not if evacuations had happened.
It seems like the fire department made a statement at like 4:00am that they had confimed one death and an unknown number of people were missing. And the next morning every news outlet just ran with that statement so it made it seem like just one guy was killed. Like even local papers didn't even bother sending a reporter down there to ask if the building had been evacuated, which apparently it wasn't.
