On a site like this, I think we can have a nuanced discussion about the effects of overpolicing, systemic abuses enabled by a system like the one in Xinjiang, whether the response by the CPC is justified and the fallability of any human system even if you think it is, etc.
Elsewhere though? China is doing nothing wrong, and fuck you for asking.
Sorry but you can go back and read some of those "nuanced" discussion about China on this website. You shouldn't expect anything better than liberal concern trolling.
People want to start with the assumption that the allegations could be true when the reality is you have to start with the assumption they are not true. It is the basics of Occam's razor and Russel's teapot but most don't get it. It may not be their fault 100% but it doesn't matter, it is futile to argue about something you disagree from the very first fundamental premise.
We could theoretically do that but I have yet to see such a thing. There is very little information to go off of, period. Very little to discuss unless we're playing around with known bad faith actors. Basically just official Chinese government policy would be uncontested but I have yet to see a nuanced discussion of it. I haven't even seen a discussion of it with someone who speaks Mandarin and breaks down terminology.
I am perfectly fine with people criticizing China for their treatment of the Uyghurs. But I'm not taking shit from the US fucking government.
The manufactured consent around the Uyghur narrative is intended to give cover for exactly this sort of thing - and worse.

There is no bad treatment. Just don't be a terrorist or seperatist and china is chill.
