i love food so much man, i don’t understand how some people unintentionally skip meals or even have to force themselves to eat. like the exhaustive and dull nature of life under capitalism paired with a lack of meaningful interactions and pursuits make food the perfect legal escape and tbh the highlight of my days. it obviously got worse when i became a stoner, but now that i think about it even as a kid i’ve always loved me some carbs, like moreso than most people.

That’s the rant lol

Also some people are just so bad at cooking. Like I understand it has a lot to do with poverty, shitty education, and old gender roles, but I once had a roommate who asked me how to cook a frozen pizza, then when I showed him he ate nothing but that for two months. What a grim life.

wait you mean that he only ate frozen pizzas for two months or that he didn’t eat anything other than that one frozen pizza over the course of two months?

Well more specifically he at a different frozen pizza for dinner probably 4 or 5 nights a week. My man was pretty athletic, which I guess is what allowed him to survive that diet. Later, he started eating pasta, so I guess someone showed him how to boil spaghetti.

shouldn’t it be the other way around, like don’t dudes that are more athletic/muscly need to eat more?

poverty with a garden and hunter father is what taught me to cook

i know this is not most people's experience with being poor. but that's one of the advantages to being poor in a rural state.

I thought I hated eating until I realized I was just gluten intolerant. Turns out I was just in pain all the time who knew.

Now I hate eating cause I miss the taste of gluten.

It isn't all bad. I'm just not used to going from eating nothing but pasta and easy meals to having to make everything from scratch. I'm not a good cook; all I have going for me is spices.

I was addicted to fake meat so much even when I wasn't a vegetarian I bought more Seitan and Morning Star than real meat. I miss it so much, please eat a big bite for me and really savor it.

I was a line cook for like five years it's not like I can't cook or anything, and I would consider myself kind of a foodie. I appreciate a good meal, and I never eat junk or fast food. But eating just feels like a chore a lot of the time. It's a daily thing I can't not do. Life is busy enough as it is.

i kinda get what u mean. i have the misfortune of being both lazy and simultaneously loving food. as much as i love eating i can never bring myself to go to great extents for food. for instance back in school i was always too lazy to wake up in time for breakfast, and it was so annoying how as a result i’d end up feeling hungry all morning like why do stomachs have to be like that lol

It turns out there's more to food than bread and boiled potatoes. I didn't know this. So I didn't like eating.

Idk, people are weird. I once made pancakes for a guy I had a huge crush on, and mind you I make pretty damn good pancakes. Motherfucker barely even touched them. Everyone else in the house devoured them in no time tho. Turns out the guy barely likes food in the first place...
