I've always thought about how weird it is that asian people try to look more white, as if they're ashamed for being asian now I see this. Gah, this is all messed up.

Similarly fucked up is the way tons of women in African countries regularly employ skin bleaching product.

The other thing is a lot of black people, mainly women but not limited to, use very powerful chemical "relaxers" for their hair to straighten it out and make it conform to a white beauty standard of hair. Not sure when exactly it started but within at least the last 80+ years but a very large chunk of black people's natural hair is very large in volume (afros) which was and still is seen as so called "unprofessional" or whatever racist ass word you want to use here. It's extremely rampant problem still having employers either force or heavily imply black folks can't come to work with a natural afro. A bit more to it but I'm making this as simple as I can.

Anyways those "hair relaxers" can bleach, seriously burn and cause hair loss they are so powerful. Like legit serious chemical burns for some people, and especially if they happen to leave it in for too long. It's just really fucked up how this is still practically a requirement in almost every work place, especially the food/service industry and the more PMC type jobs. While some places like California have outlawed discrimination of this there is still obviously pieces of shit who skirt this with peer pressure and/or soceital expectations. But in the majority of states laws don't even protect them from this type of discrimination due to a myriad of reasons
