Used to allow self posts - that ended. I used to post joke stories. One time - I posted a joke about Theresa May giving trump a blow job in the Oval Office. I tagged it as NSFW but a mod removed it anyway for being "uncivil".

Used to allow jokes not 100% based on American politics.
Used to openly allow gifs. But then they changed the rules so that "distracting" gifs are not allowed. You can imagine that anything they don't like is removed as distracting. It's pointless to post a gif - it's a near certainty it'll get removed.
Basically - all they permit now is non-gif images that must be directly related to their definition of American politics. You can't make a joke about Biden's drone program because to the mods that's not "political".
The sidebar rules are changed all the time but the sub isn't told. Sometimes even the mods don't know what the current rules are. I once had a mod remove my gif and he told me gifs weren't allowed. I told him that gifs are allowed as long as they weren't distracting. The rule was right there in the sidebar. He then lied and said my perfectly reasonable five second gif was distracting. He didn't want to admit he didn't know the rules and he made a mistake.
