he's making an interesting (if facile) analytical point here-- but of course it only really cuts against a lib sort of justification for being anti-war (it's inefficient/costly).
but we are anti-imperial war and anti-poverty because we want dignity for the least well-off; slight losses to "efficiency" are contemplated, and obviously worth it.
Also the observation that a fight against poverty (under capitalism) if undertaken will be a forever war is a trivial one.
Lol his early op-eds really were just mask-off psycho shit. Not that it's not anymore, but you know this was in an era when other people were publishing his shit and presumably an editor was viewing it.
I think its the difference between neocon era "We're the empire and proud of it" mindset vs whatever today is where its "whatever owns the libs idc"
18 years old when he wrote that drivel. Wonder how much he's changed, and how much is him realizing he needs to at least be a touch more subtle about things.
economically burned villages in order to save them.
What is he referring to here?
I know that anti-poverty measures in Africa have done something like this where they temporarily flooded the market with cheap foreign food, drove local agriculture out of business, and potentially made poverty worse. But knowing Ben and the right wing they're upset over something insane and not real.
that's interesting, but yeah more likely they're both called "Wars" and both are endless
