We all know the white guys who call themselves history buffs but only have a limited knowledge of WWII which is based on history channel documentaries.

Oh, you mean the 14-15 year old cishet guy who plays too much Paradox games and thinks it's a substitution for reading, listens to Sabaton and Nazi songs like Erika "ironically", posts nonsense on r/historymemes about how tragic the end of Byzantium and Austria-Hungary were, is obsessed with the Nazi equipment and culture "for the aesthetic" and thinks doge memes about war crimes are the funniest things ever?

Yeah I know him. Either they outgrow it and a) move on from history, b) actually learn about history from real sources instead of video games, or c), they don't move on, become a regular on 4chan and become an incel

      obsessed with the Nazi equipment

It's usually pretty easy to shut those guys down by pointing out the equipment was on par in effectiveness and totally inferior for the war Germany was fighting.

If 1:1 performance is all that matters, the Maus was a great idea and Germany's MG42 and America's M3 were terrible downgrades.

If not being outgunned 100:1 is important, then you can just quote production numbers and mock Germany's less-specialized tooling/horse-based logistics/47623764 unique vehicle models, most of which didn't share parts, parts weren't manufactured, and basic maintenance like replacing a spark plug required shit like removing the entire turret.

I think you can understand how ineffective the equipment was for the war effort but still be extremely interested in it. (in fact, the amazement of how inefficient it was makes it more interesting tbh) The weird ones are people who talk about german tank/weapon superiority and fetishize generals/units

(nazi/soviet guns on ForgottenWeaponds is always an insta click for me personally lol)

i make one post about nazis and now it is all I've posted about for a day :amogus:

That's kinda me but with ships. The German navy in WW2 was hilariously bad in so many ways and their ship design was pretty much inferior to all other countries with any substantial naval power.

Nah, I meant more like the middle aged dorks who wish they had the glory of that war but instead they live a mind numbingly boring existence. Now they try to live off and take claim for the people who fought in that war.
