People have already gotten offended by the female protagonist when it got leaked a few months prior. Anything that isn't a cisgender straight white able-bodied male is considered "too woke" for them.

Considering GTA's historical treatment of women in their older games, I'll still hold my breath to see how the characters are written. Although gamers seething is always nice, I'm always pessimistic with the AAA games industry.

I've really wondered what 6 will look like given how abhorrent female representation is in these games. It'll likely still have its cringey moments, but the trailer looks pretty encouraging.

According to polls over here, far right parties are most popular among the gamer crowd. I'm sure they will take this in a good way.

trailer looked good but my interest kinda dropped when it said 2025. when it's that far away my brain is just like "well there's no reason to care about this for another year or more, then" because you know they're just gonna drip feed you the smallest bit of info at a glacial pace until then.

same thing happened when Bethesda announced ES6. I hate when these companies announce projects super early. I wish more games would follow the Fallout 4 route where they announced it in the summer and it released like 4 or 5 months later.

For real. If a game gets announced with a release date that is more than 6 months in the future chances are very high that by the time the game comes out I will no longer have an interest in playing it (unless it turns out to be really really good). I personally don't care about any teasers/hints that marketing drops every now and then up until the release and I don't follow any influencers/shills who make long essays about the latest teaser so most game releases just fly over my head at that point.

You'd think people would be happy about the player character being a thicc latina but you'd be wrong.

It's bad enough that women hold up half the sky, now they have to hold up half the citizens of wherever GTA VI is based?

i found it to be immersion breaking and a little more than distracting. I guess it helps make the game bigger and provides unique storytelling angles but I still prefer a more complex singular storyline where I don't have to context switch unexpectedly often

Makes sense, though at the same time it allows for a more multifaceted story like in a book that follow different characters in different chapters. Plus it gave people different choices for which main character they wanted to be.

Haven’t seen the trailer yet. I never really understood the hype of watching a Trailer. I feel like they just show the best parts of a game, meanwhile I have no clue if the rest of the game is boring or if the menus are confusing

anyone else really underwhelmed by the trailer?

idk, when I realized its just california, again I lost a lot of interest; we already have GTA; SA, vice city, 5 and now this all use pretty much the same locale.

Do people really twerk on the roof top and have large drug based culture in Florida ? Or it is just heightened reality there (o.0)

I'm sure it has happened because Florida has the huge spring break scene when college weirdos go there and do shit they'd never do back home.

Which is to say that they are leaning hard into Florida man bullshit. Every place in America has that insane weirdo shit happen, Florida media just has open access to police reports so they can comb through everything and find something insane to make a slow news day more exciting.

It's florida but I was also underwhelmed. I have the suspicion that they don't have anything really flashy to show off yet because they're still working on it and have over a year of dev time to go.

GTA is a notable blank spot in my gaming history, just never interested me much. I could have sworn that earlier games in the franchise had character creators though, were they actually just set male main characters in every one prior?

The only time you could make your character was in the online mode for gta v. You might be thinking of Saints Row.

The first game had eight characters to choose from, with four being female, but nobody gives one or two much thought. Three and on had single main characters, V had the player swapping between three characters as a gameplay/plot mechanic, and V's online component lets you roll you own.

The thing that kept me from really, really getting into any GTA game is that it's such an ugly world that I rarely want to spend much time in jt

Niko Bellic talking about his harrowing experiences in the Bosnian War while stuck in traffic lights next to a van with a transphobic joke emblazoned on the side. On a building in the distance a giant billboard featuring a woman pissing into beer bottle can be seen

If San Andreas had released in 2023 it would have been slammed for being part of the woke white genocide because the protagonist is political.
