I want to say Spotify is a unique kind of evil, but I can’t really because it’s no different than any other ghoulish media platform. I think it feels different though because some of my deepest irl friendships are thanks to Spotify. Maybe that’s a me problem idk

Not sure if the exploitation is feeling more “in your face” because I’ve been reading more theory lately (which I probably still don’t understand) but seriously. Is this not absurd?

    I deleted Spotify like a year ago because they pay artists that aren't Taylor Swift virtually nothing and it's fine. Also the CEO donates money to MIC firms. https://ra.co/news/76439

    Genuinely frustrating to find places that stream music and don't suck. At this point, it feels like artists would be better off just setting up a PLEX server and charging a subscription themselves.
